Have you ever struggled with that voice in your head that tells you that you’re not good enough, that you’re alone, and that you’re powerless? I know I have, and it can be challenging to silence that voice and win the battle in our thoughts. But did you know that we’re actually in a spiritual war, and the target is our faith? The enemy aims to replace our faith with doubt, fear, and unbelief. That’s why it’s so important to learn that silencing your critic wins the battle in our minds.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably heard all sorts of lies from the Critic over the years, such as “You’re inadequate,” “You’re not precious to Jesus,” or “I can take you from Jesus.” But the truth is that many believers struggle with these same thoughts. That’s why we must learn how to respond to the Critic’s lies by rejecting them and renewing our minds.
And the good news is, we don’t have to do it alone. Once we belong to Jesus, we are sealed as His forever. No one can take us away from Him unless we choose to reject Him. So, let’s stay in the fight and move forward in renewing our minds, knowing that we are always His, and He is always ours.
His Words are the Key
Picture this: you’re standing at the door of your heart, and you see a Critic trying to barge in. What do you do? Well, let’s lock that door and deny it access! But how can we be sure that the Critic won’t come back? Let’s drill down into this truth by reviewing some powerful scriptures to support what Jesus said. These verses will chase away lingering fears and give us the confidence to keep the Critic at bay.
Firstly, let’s take a look at John 10:27-28. Jesus promises that His sheep recognize His voice and follow Him. He gives them real and eternal life, and they are protected from the Destroyer for good. No one can steal them from out of His hand. We are His sheep, and He will always protect us.
Secondly, Ephesians 1:13 reminds us that because we believe in the One who is truth, our lives are marked with His seal. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit; nothing can break that seal. We belong to Him, and He will always keep us safe.
Thirdly, John 6:39 guarantees that of all that the Father has given Jesus, He will lose nothing. We are His, and He will never let us go.
So, what can we do to replace the fear programming of the Critic with the truth of Jesus? Here’s a beneficial exercise that helped me: ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to bible verses customized to minister to your heart. Then, soak in them. Let them saturate your entire being. Over time, your thoughts will be filled with the truth of Jesus, and the voice of the Critic will be silenced.
In conclusion, when we accept Jesus, it’s a one-way trip. No one can take us from Him. We can lock the door of our hearts, confident that we are protected and secure in His love. So let’s replace the voice of the Critic with the loving voice of truth—Jesus.
“Now with the voice of truth and power of God — armed on the right and armed on the left with righteousness from God — we continue.” 2 Corinthians 6:7 (VOICE)
