Have you ever felt a strong desire to experience the incredible presence of Jesus? If so, you’re not alone. Many of us long for that intimate connection with our Savior, but struggle to know how to make it happen. Well, I’m excited to share with you what I’ve learned about entering the presence of Jesus. Get ready to discover some powerful insights that will help you draw closer to Him than ever before!
When I began my prayer time over fifty years ago, it was a simple routine of reading the Bible and saying a few prayers. But as time went on, I realized some barriers were preventing me from truly experiencing the presence of Jesus. So, I made it my mission to remove those obstacles and developed consistent daily disciplines of worship, intense Bible study, heartfelt prayer, and patiently waiting on Jesus.
I learned that rushing in and out of the secret place wouldn’t cut it. It took time and effort to connect with Jesus truly. And part of that effort involved obeying His will in my life, no matter the personal cost. Through each act of obedience, I grew spiritually and developed a close relationship with Him that I cherish.
So, if you’re looking to enter the presence of Jesus, know that it takes some time and effort, but it’s worth it. Develop consistent daily disciplines, obey His will in your life, and patiently wait on Him. Your relationship with Him will grow, and you’ll experience the peace and joy of being introduced to His presence.
Mix It Up
I tried different prayer times for years to see what worked best for me. But here’s the thing: what works for me might not work for you. So, my advice? Dive in and pursue Jesus with all your heart! After all, we’re all unique, and our paths to encountering His presence will be different.
The first step is to figure out your goal. For me, it was reading Exodus 33:11, where it says, “The Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend.” That’s what I wanted – a close and personal relationship with Jesus! And so, I set out to develop a friendship with Him.
But here’s the catch – true friendships require transparency. So, during my prayer time, I started sharing everything with Jesus – my joys, sorrows, hopes, and fears. Heart to heart. Spirit to spirit. And can you guess what happened next? Jesus started opening up to me, too! He shared His grief and delights with me, just like He’ll do with you. So, don’t hold back – share your heart with Jesus, and see where your friendship takes you!
Hungry for Relationship
One spiritual principle that Jesus gave me was to keep intellectual concepts at bay. He said that ideas can become barriers to experiencing His presence. Jesus is not just a concept that you can understand with your mind. Instead, a relationship with Him emanates from your heart.
Once I understood this, I stopped looking back at my past religious experiences and stepped into His presence, feeling completely liberated. As I poured my love for Jesus in worship, I felt His love drawing nearer to me like a magnet. And you know what? He told me that His heart hungers for more of me! He said that just as I hunger for His presence, He also longs for me to be with Him.
Isn’t that amazing? It’s a beautiful reminder of the depth of love and relationship that Jesus desires to have with each of us.
Love Note for You
Yesterday, I received a message from Jesus that He asked to be included in this post. It’s a love note from Him to you, the apple of His eye. Here it is:
“My Beloved, everything the world offers you falls short, leaving you unfulfilled and longing for more. So, pursue the only thing that will satisfy your heart. Enter the open door into My presence, where all is well. Nothing else satisfies.
I long for you just as you long for Me. I long to walk and talk with you. I want to see your smile when you recognize that My presence is before you. I long for intimate conversations where we share our hearts face-to-face. No barriers. No fear. Only love that emanates from a mutual desire to be transparent with each other. When you experience My presence, you won’t want to let Me go.
Come, I’m waiting for YOU with open arms.”
“In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11 NASB
